No-Snooze Week

I must admit to being a chronic misuser of the snooze button. I've been known to repeatedly press it for well over an hour when I can get away with it. This morning I had planned to attend a friend's NOVALUG presentation on Tor, but in that half-asleep haze facilitated by the snooze button, I considered that I hadn't exactly committed to attending, and my bed was so comfy and warm, and... zzzzz.

It's not that skipping one presentation is so bad, but rather my pattern of snooze button overuse that's prompting me to declare next week, April 11-17, my personal No-Snooze Week, when I challenge myself not to touch a snooze button. Who's with me?

Justin is a huge abuser of snooze. I can understand once, twice, or even three times. But any more than that is ridiculous. Just set your alarm 30 minutes later!

Good luck!

I need to start getting to bed at a more reasonable hour. Starting Sunday, obviously...

Snooze reform
Good luck with your effort, but I'll believe it when I see it! I'm guessing that's gonna be a hard habit to break. I don't think you would even wake up for the fire alarm.... kinda scary when you think about it that way.

What finally broke me of the snooze button habit was putting my alarm out of reach, where I have to stand up and walk to turn it off. I've been snooze-button free for over 3 years now. YMMV.

Tried this one - didn't work for me - but at least I now *know* that I'm hitting the snooze button instead of hitting it in a still half-asleep haze and not getting up when I should...

Good luck to bokunenjin though!

i'm in. and i'm only traveling one day next week - working from home for four days makes it treacherous snooze-abuse-inducing territory, so this will be a true test of my willpower.

i, too, have been known to hit snooze for up to an hour, despite having a) put the alarm clock on a dresser across the room and b) switched from radio to annoying-buzzer-from-hell. apparently my desire for "just 10 more minutes" outweighs my desire not to be repeatedly jolted awake & made to crawl out of my comfy bed.

How has your no-snooze week been going? I've been successful, technically, though this morning instead of hitting the snooze button when the alarm sounded, I just turned it off and went back to sleep. :P

technically, i have not hit snooze all week.

however, i can't exactly declare success, because thebroomecloset hit snooze two days this week, and i lack the willpower to get out of bed when he hasn't yet.

on the gripping hand, we got up after a single snooze both days, and i did work out every morning that i wasn't traveling. (working out being what usually suffers when i abuse the snooze button.) so overall it has been an improvement!

I'd just like to say that the idea of not using the snooze button is a sick, sick idea!
