a weekend in Columbus

This weekend I went to lovely Columbus, Ohio, to visit jmsa, barawn, renolphus, and maxmagoo. It's the first time I'd ever been to their place there, or to Columbus, and as much as I disparage Columbus, it's a decent city. jmsa and I checked out the North Market, with its bounty and variety of wonderful foods, from bison steaks to buttery scones to produce to fresh-ground nutmeg. After our Indian and Italian lunches, we had to sample Jeni's Ice Creams; I tried a goat cheese ice cream with port and some kind of berries. I wish I'd tried some of the other flavors, like Black Walnut or Cream of Violet, too.

The Arnold Sports Festival was the big event in town over the weekend, so downtown—not to mention the airport—was abuzz with bodybuilders. But this also happened to be the weekend of the monthly Gallery Hop, and I don't remember seeing any musclebound types there. :) Alas, we forgot to look for the lunar eclipse, but since there were flurries in the air, I'm guessing we probably wouldn't have seen it. jmsa, her friend Kim, and I walked up and down High Street, stopped in various shops, and eventually settled down at The Burgundy Room, where we enjoyed a bottle of Bommarito Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by a bottle of La Posta del Vinatero Malbec, which I'd come to regret the next day but which was delightful at the time.

I finally got to meet rambunctious maxmagoo and snuggly renolphus and watch the first couple episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist. And I was happy to present jmsa with the knitting-needle roll I sewed.

Oui Oui
Yes they do. I had a coffee flavored ice cream-- it almost rivaled Penn State's Creamery WPSX Coffee Break. ~Ebola/jmsa
